1. Where is the new college located?

The new college has moved to Leek Road next to Staffordshire University and is at the heart of the University Quarter. The college is in a prominent location adjacent to Stoke Railway Station. Click here to see a map of where the new college will be located.

2. Does the college still offer the same courses?

Yes, on the whole the Sixth Form College continues to offer the same courses.

we are the leading provider locally of Level 3 A Level and BTEC courses to more than 1,800 young people

However, as with every year, the college will review the success of all the courses and adapt the curriculum exploring the qualifications currently on offer in local schools. For a full and uptodate list of the courses we currently offer click here

3. What facilities are now available at the new Sixth Form College?

Learning Resource Centres (LRCs)
Learning is always placed at the heart of the Sixth Form College and as such, the new college has been built to reflect this. Right through the very core of the building is a three storey learning resource centre. Each floor will have a very different feel and focus, offering you an environment that will suit your personal learning style and mood.

Learning Pods
Perhaps the most unique feature in the new building is the row of three learning pods. The pods are individual break out spaces from the LRCs each with their own identity.

IT Facilities
The new college will showcase the latest in IT facilities. Innovative use of technology has been introduced throughout the campus.

  • A cashless community - You will be able to purchase your bus ticket or baked potato using a ‘Mifare’ card - your student smartcard which you will reload at a smart station.
  • High Speed internet and wireless networking
  • The latest pcs, macs and laptops

Catering
The new college is home to an array of catering facilities each with a fresh and spacious atmosphere. The only thing you will need to worry about is which one you choose to visit each day.

  • Refectory

4. How do I get to the new college building?

Relocating the college to a more central location close to Stoke station means that getting to the college could not be simpler for you. You have a variety of travel alternatives to choose from:

Bus Services
A number of bus services pass the new college regularly throughout the day. 6, 6a, 8, 8a, 25, 26.

Car Drop-off
The college is positioned on Leek Road and there will be a student drop-off point located on the new site.

Rail Links
The college is situated directly adjacent to Stoke on Trent Train Station; therefore it would be easy to travel to college by train from places such as Alsager/Blythe Bridge.

Greener Travel
The college is committed to greener travel and encourages staff and students to cycle or walk into college. There will be ample provision for secure bike storage and the college is located along some of the city’s designated cycle and walking routes.

5. What will happen to the former Sixth Form College building in Fenton?

Once the staff and students have vacated the Sixth Form College building in Fenton in September 2010, the building will be purchased by the City Council for a new Academy.

6. What is the University Quarter project?

The University Quarter is an ambitious project which brings together a collaboration of Stoke-on-Trent’s three key educational partners. The City of Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form College, Stoke on Trent College and Staffordshire University, all sharing a vision of breaking down barriers to give everyone the chance to achieve their full potential.

The University Quarter will also feature a Science & Technology Centre. A state of the art building within a vibrant urban scene next door to the Sixth Form College

7. What additional facilities are there likely to be?

Our outdoor sports facilities will remain at the extensive Fenton Manor Sports Complex.
From 2011, science students will have access to state of the art shared science facilities.

8. I am a member of the local community and would like to find out more about the regeneration in this area?

Sanctuary Housing are currently taking a lead on implementing the local community consultation strategy. They are organising a series of community events and giving local residents the opportunity to join a community forum.
