Prize Giving 2018

The Sixth Form College recently celebrated the success and achievement of students, past and present, at our annual Prize Presentation Evening.

Held at Staffordshire University’s LRV venue, this year’s event featured a spark of Hollywood glamour and included spectacular performances from current performing arts students and the College band. With over 175 guests, including students, parents, representatives from local business and VIP guests this year’s celebration was the biggest yet.

Included in this years winners was Steve Grimley who was presented with the Carse and Waterman Prize for Endeavour in the Arts.

Steve was given this award because of his dedication to the study of film. A prolific member of the College’s Film Crew Steve has developed his film making ability through extracurricular assignments and work-placements. This has included being accepted onto the BFI’s prestigious 16-19 Film Academy. During this exciting programme Steve met and worked with  film professionals to produce a 360 degree film, which was later premiered at the Chester Storyhouse.

Also amongst the award winners was Jordan Flannagan. Jordon recieved the Fenton Manor Prize for Student Enrichment. Jordan journey at College has been one of amazing personal development.

Jordon was initially anxious and nervous about studying at College. Quiet and reserved, Jordon began the year struggling to overcome social anxiety, choosing to come to College early to avoid crowds. Jordon is a testament to the power of student enrichment and confirms the benefit of the College’s growing enrichment programme.

Over the course of the year, Jordon has embraced the College’s enrichment programme, taking a lead on fundraising events and participating in musical performances and attending a week-long residential with the Outward Bound organization

With over 60 prizes given, the celebration recognised a range of achievements, rewarding students who have shown extraordinary commitment to their subjects, demonstrated outstanding progress or overcome remarkable personal challenges.
