For students all over the country, last week’s half term meant a week of private study and relaxation. However students from AS Performance Studies took the opportunity to gain some practical experience by volunteering at the Trentham Monkey Forest for a week of spooky Halloween related activities for young children.
On Wednesday 5th October 2011, the Sixth Form College hosted the launch of the 2011 North Staffordshire STARS squad. Olympic Silver Medallist Guin Batten spoke to over 40 talented young performers from a range of local high schools who attended the evening.
Sixth Form College students were shortlisted from hundreds of nominations for Young Learner of The Year, at the Stoke-on-Trent Learn More Awards. Last years students Lucy Welch, and Cai Brown were two finalists and Alice Bridgewood was Joint winner of the category.

A Level pass rate over 96% with two thirds of students achieving the higher grades of A*- C. Students have achieved 154 A* and A grades across a range of subjects with 25 students achieved the coveted A* grade at A Level – some gaining more than one A*
Monday evening saw the Sixth Form College transformed into a Hollywood scene with a night of glitz and glam as we celebrated the inaugural Creative Oscars Ceremony 2011.
In May 2011, students and staff at the City of Stoke on Trent Sixth Form College completed a brief online survey about their travel habits to and from the college as a follow up to the full survey completed in May 2010.
AS student Torben, heard the news that his essay had been selected by the judging panel at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, and he is to be awarded first prize in their annual Philosophy Essay writing competition.
The Sixth Form College was represented at the 33rd British Colleges Sport National Championships held at the University of Bath over the weekend of the 8 – 10 April.
A Level Design Technology students have been inspired by studying in a the brand new Sixth Form College building to base their A2 coursework on creating similar new architectural designs.
Three of the college’s top AS Chemistry students were selected to compete in the Midlands Heat of the Schools’ Analyst Competition 2011 at Keele University.
