On Friday 18th June 2010, dozens of familiar faces strolled back through the doors of the City of Stoke on Trent Sixth Form College.
Over fifty former members of staff who have worked here at the Fenton site over the last four decades returned to say one final farewell to a building that holds a million memories for each of them, before the relocation over the summer.
Derek Poulson, who arrived at the Sixth Form in 1982, hosted the event. He quickly had the room in stitches as he reeled off short anecdotes about staff shows, committee meetings and his first day here at the college.
A number of current members of staff took the opportunity to pop up to the party and say hello to old colleagues and friends. It was a fantastic afternoon of celebration and a great end to an era.
Marian Bellingham taught Religious Studies at the college wrote a thank you message to the college:
“Thank you very much for my lunch and for organising such a special event. It was lovely to be involved and great to meet up once again with some old friends. The Sixth Form College had warmth which was very evident today. I hope that the same atmosphere will transfer to the new building. We have such happy memories here.”
Student Reunion Event
Our next college event will take place on Saturday 10th July 10am – 12pm. The college will be open for former students to visit the Fenton Campus. The event will be advertised on the College website and the Official College Facebook Fan site.
