NORTH STAFFORDSHIRE LEARNMORE AWARDS
Three former Sixth Form College students shortlisted as finalists for theYoung Learner of the Year Award.

Tuesday 18th May, saw the inaugural LearnMore Awards event at the Kings Hall in Stoke, a celebratory evening for North Staffordshire, recognising outstanding local individuals and organisations. A judging panel had the unenviable task of selecting the worthy finalists and winners for ten different award categories. There were hundreds of nominations from different organisations throughout North Staffordshire, each with a different story to tell.
Four of our former students were nominated for the ‘Young Learner of the Year Award’ awarded to the most impressive young learner between the ages of 18 & 25 Three of them - Tom Neat, Heather Bennett and Catherine Trinder were chosen as finalists in this category and were presented with framed certificates.
Charles Freeman, Vice Chair of Corporation, was delighted to be invited to join Helen Pegg and the Sixth Form College table at the event, and share in the celebration with the students and their families. It was fantastic to see the college so well represented throughout such a high profile event in the city. Martin Tideswell compered the event, he currently works at the Sentinel as Head of Community Contacts and when presenting the awards in the young person’s category, proudly declared that he too was a former Sixth Form College student. James Beeston, won the award for ‘Apprentice of the Year’, yet another former student from the college
