After completing an Art and Design course at college, students could choose to specialise by studying an Art Foundation course followed by a degree in a specialist discipline.
A foundation course is regarded as the best preparation for Higher Education in most Art and Design subjects and may improve chances of being accepted on a degree course. Art and Design will enable students to access a wide range of subjects and subject combinations including: Fine Art, Ceramics and Glass, Public art projects, Industrial Design and History of Art.
If you don’t decide to stay in education, you will have acquired skills that are greatly valued by employers, including problem-solving and presentation skills. Equally, you may wish to consider an apprenticeship in the Creative Industries. You could continue your education on a part-time basis, for example by taking a Foundation Degree.
