Sauce It! came up with the winning idea for the 'BTEC Business Build a Better Butty' competition.
In true ‘Dragons’ Den’ style (minus the probing questions from five scary gizillionaires), Business Studies BTEC students took to the floor (fully suited and booted) to present their business proposals for a new sandwich concept to Stone based sandwich company ‘The Good Food Chain’.
Back in December, Martyn Colfield, Managing Director of the firm that will hand-make in excess of 5 million sandwiches this year, introduced his company and set the first year students a task. They were asked to work together in small teams and, using their knowledge of the ‘Marketing Mix’, carry out market research and come up with a business proposal for a brand new sandwich to be sold at the Sixth Form College.
On 19th January, they were each given the opportunity to ‘sell’ their new concept to Martyn by presenting their business proposal to him. Martyn then chose a winning team who he would invite to come along and spend the afternoon at his company, giving them the opportunity to see the type of products they create and how his business operates.
