You can choose from a number of courses suited to progression within coaching and employment or a course which will prepare you more for Higher Education - there will be a sports course to suit you!

For further information on these courses refer to ‘related courses’ opposite.

Why choose this subject...

Over a quarter of students at the college are studying for a sports related course and all our students get free access to the superb facilities within the Fenton Manor Sports Complex. All students at the college have the opportunity to use these facilities no matter what courses they are studying. We are proud to promote a healthy lifestyle for all and exercise is a key part of this.

Sports programmes at the college offer something for everyone. We understand the importance of the individual and aim to offer a course that suits you! This will be dependant on your ability, experience and how many hours you would like to devote to sports at the college.

Studying Sports related course will offer you access to a wide range of possible career and higher education opportunities. You learn and use a variety of transferable skills throughout these courses. These include collecting, analysing and interpreting data, communicating your findings in different ways, and identifying and developing the links between different parts of the subject. These skills are in great demand by employers, universities and colleges. Many students choose to use their qualification to go straight into employment, rather than go on to higher education, in particular the uniformed services such as the Army, RAF and the Fire Service. Transferable skills and Key Skills are what employers are looking for, they can lead to a very wide range of employment opportunities. This can include further training in such areas as recreational management, leisure activities, armed forces and the Civil Service.
