Talented Trampoliners jump to victory

Going for the double…

Victorious in the schools league, the team were determined to go on to take ‘the double’ by also winning the ‘British Colleges National Championships’ held in Loughborough last weekend.

Brimming with enthusiasm and a real fighting spirit, the girls were determined to maintain their unbeaten record.

The team qualified as one of the TOP 8 teams in the country to bounce for the title, (and in our girls case) the double!!

Katie Lawton, formerly of HoldenLaneHigh School said:

“It was so nerve-racking going to Loughborough and competing against college teams from all across the country. We really wanted to remain an unbeaten team!! All of us have worked so hard towards these competitions, training in between lessons and after college… but we all love it and feel it’s definitely worthwhile.”

Unfortunately, much to the disappointment of the team and their coach, they were pipped at the post to the winning spot by 0.2 points!!!

Katie said:

“We were obviously all disappointed to miss out on the double by such a narrow margin, however, we are very proud of coming second in such a strong competition.”

Lani Dacey, formerly of MadeleyHigh School, was placed 2nd in the Country for the individual ‘British Colleges Sports Championship’ and the Team Captain, Laura Davis, formerly of TrenthamHigh School, was placed 4th - missing out on 3rd place by 0.6 points.

Louise Finney, the Team Coach said:

“The girls have done so well all year, I am so tremendously proud of them all. I am really disappointed for them that they missed the winning spot by 0.2 points. I would like to congratulate all the girls and give a special thank you to Claire Thomas, who would have been part of this team but unfortunately had a severe injury at the start of the season. Claire has supported the team at every single event this year and we are all really grateful for this. The team and I would like to wish her luck with her operation.”

Louise and her team have vowed to ‘bounce back’ next year and claim that title!!
