RED Event Prize Presentation

On Tuesday 29th January we celebrated our RED writing competition winners. The RED Event involved writing a story of no more than 1000 words to a pre-defined set of rules, the stories were then judged by a panel of industry experts including actress Deborah McAndrew who is also the Chancellor of Leeds Trinity University, staff members and students.

The RED Event was open to all students at the Sixth Form College and we received almost 80 entries! After a tough judging process we would like to congratulate our winners!

There were several prizes awarded to: Alice Foggerty (Cheadle Academy), Evie Brennan Hulme (Painsley Catholic College), Jessica Morris (St John Fisher Catholic College) and Tyler Heades (Discovery Academy). with the overall winner being Eleanor Curtis (Clayton Hall Academy).

This event allowed our students to put the knowledge they have gained from their studies into practice and provided them with experience they can take forward throughout their time at the Sixth Form and beyond. A big well done to everyone who got involved!

Lucy Twigg our English Teacher said “The whole RED Event has been hugely beneficial for our students and has allowed them the opportunity to develop their writing skills.”
