ParentPay – our new online payment service
We are pleased to confirm that the City of Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form College is now accepting payments online for items such as dinner money, college trips and classroom materials. Using a secure website called ParentPay you will be able to pay online using your credit or debit card or alternatively can be topped up by cash using PayPoint locations which are available nationally. ParentPay will now be the main method of making payments by students at the college.
When adding funds to your ParentPay account to pay swiftly for items such as bus passes and lunches etc. we advise that you select the Visa option to pay by debit/credit card. Once you have selected Visa you will then have the option to select Mastercard or American Express.
Please note: Selecting to add funds by BACS takes between 5-10 days to clear from your account.

Your account activation details should now have been e-mailed to you at your college e-mail address if you have received these:
- Please visit www.parentpay.com
- Enter your Activation username and password in the Account Login section of the homepage. NB. These are for one-time use only, please choose your own username and password for future access during the activation process.
- Provide all the necessary information and choose your new username and password for your account – registering your email address will enable us to send you receipts and reminders.
- Once activation is complete you can go straight to Items for payment, select which item(s) you want to add to your basket and proceed to complete your payment.
- If you have any questions or require your activation details resending, please contact a member of staff in the finance team based in room G1 or the Student Finance/Bursary Desk on the Ground Floor.

Most students need some extra help with their studies from time to time. Innovative strategies have been developed to support individual students.
As a student at the Sixth Form College you will have a Progress Coach who will monitor your progress throughout your studies as well as deliver your weekly group tutorial. Each term you will spend one-to-one time with your personal Progress Coach to discuss your overall progress in college. Each meeting will also focus on your attendance and future plans. All this information will be recorded and will be accessible to both parents and students via Cedar.
Helping our students consider and plan their next step is something we excel at and take great pride in. Our Careers and Progression Team are always available to help you research careers, education, apprenticeships and employment opportunities, as well as assisting you with your applications for universities or jobs.

We encourage all students to participate in the work experience programme. For some students it will be essential to carry out work experience to complete your course. For others it may be needed in order to gain a place on your chosen university course or apprenticeship. We will support you before, during and after your placement to ensure you have a successful experience in a safe, relevant and friendly environment.
At the Sixth Form College, we offer selected internships to our students. Internships are similar to work experience placements but are based within the college. Areas, where internships are currently offered, include; Marketing, Admissions, Reprographics, Estates, Catering, Reception and IT support.
We recognise that some students will have additional responsibilities at home, e.g. providing elements of care for other members of the family or being a young parent. Understanding this, we would make every effort to provide support and flexibility for your studies.
The college is committed to ensuring that as far as possible, students with a disability or learning difficulty have equal access to courses and services offered by the college. If you have any physical disability or special educational needs, you will receive help from the student support team at the college and we will make every effort to adjust our provision and facilities to meet your needs. Via our close links with local high schools we will make every effort to make sure your transition to the Sixth Form College is as smooth as possible.
The college offers a professional service, with a qualified counsellor available for appointments and for weekly drop-in sessions.
Our experienced team of counsellors and Emotional Wellbeing Officers are available for group and one-to-one confidential support.
The SHARP System is a Help Advice Reporting Page System allowing you to make us aware of any issues you, your friend, or another student may be experiencing. As well as reporting there’s lots of information and guidance available. Please take the time to look through the pages and if you feel that you can help to keep our college a safe, friendly and fun place to be, you can get in touch using the link. This is a CONFIDENTIAL way to stop YOU or a FRIEND or SOMEONE you have seen SUFFERING. You don’t have to leave your details if you don’t want to.

PREVENT will be holding drop in sessions in the cafe area in the Atrium every 4 weeks on a Friday 12:30pm – 2:30pm.

You may be entitled to financial support from the College Bursary Scheme to help meet the costs of continuing with your studies.

The 16 to 19 Bursary Fund is to provide financial support to help students overcome the specific financial barriers to participation they face so they can remain in education.’
Every year the government gives colleges additional funding to help students with the essential costs of participating in their study programme: and depending on your circumstances you may be eligible for some (or all) for the following:

You can apply for your financial support using the PayMyStudent portal.
The application form is on-line and you will need to submit the necessary evidence required that will be used to determine your eligibility.

Step 1: Registration
First, you will need to set up your account. You will need your student enrolment number, please register using this option by entering your date of birth and creating a password (this must be 8 characters long).
Step 2: Activation
Once you have registered you will be sent a verification code via either your choice of text message (SMS) or e-mail. (please make sure that you do not use your previous school e-mail account, as you will not be able to access it). Once your account has been activated you will then go back to the main portal page. You can now log in using your details and the password you created.
Step 3: Application
Within the homepage welcome message follow the link to the Application Form. You will be asked for information about your personal circumstances and the household that you live in.
As you progress through the application you will be advised which evidence will be required to support your application. If you have access to a scanner or a smartphone or a digital camera, you can take copies of the required documents and upload them. Without the evidence that you have been asked for we will be unable to process your application.
You will then be asked to enter your bank details (these are the student bank details and not the parents) – this is not a mandatory part of the application however we would encourage you to do this now so that if you require any discretionary funding in the future it will not be delayed.
When you have uploaded all of the evidence that is required please sign the declaration and submit your application form. You will then automatically receive a confirmation e-mail.
If you or your parent(s)/Guardian(s) are in receipt of one or more of the following benefits, you will be eligible for a free meal and you will automatically be entitled to the discretionary bursary above:
- Universal Credit (only if your household income is less than £7,400 a year.)
- Income based Job Seekers Allowance
- Income related Employment Support Allowance
- Asylum Support from NASS
- The Guaranteed Element of State Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit (provided you are not entitled to Working Tax Credit) and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190 as assessed by Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs
Note: All students are expected to develop the Stoke6th Graduate attributes to realise their potential. Students who do not engage with this programme may lose an element of bursary entitlement.
Care to Learn is a Government scheme to help with childcare costs while you study. If you are under 20 on the 31st August in the year you start your course, you may be eligible to receive help with the cost of childcare and transport (up to £160 per week). You can choose to send your child to a nursery or a child-minder but they must be registered with Ofsted. Childcare payments will go directly to your childcare provider and will stop if:
- you stop attending your course
- you reach the end of your course
- your child stops attending childcare

Travel passes will be available to buy from the College from Thursday 20th August 2020 to start on the students first day of term. Please check the college website towards the end of August for the prices (as they are due to increase over the summer).
We sell Smart and First passes at a reduced rate and you can pay by Cash/Cheque/Card/Contactless and Apple pay. Your parents/guardian can phone and pay for your travel pass over the phone via credit/debit card and you can collect your pass during the day. You will need a passport size photo to obtain your Travel pass, please bring this to the Student Finance Desk on your day of enrollment to obtain your pass. Travel passes can be used at evenings and weekends – not just for college!
Please note – we cannot replace travel passes that are lost or stolen free of charge.

This service is a closed door service for students at OSSMA, Trentham Academy, Stoke Sixth Form College and Stoke-on-Trent College. All seats can be used on this service, although social distancing should be practiced where possible and face coverings remain compulsory as they do on all bus services.
Students with any valid bus pass can use this service. SMART passes are recommended as they can also be used on all local bus services within the operating boundary.
This service calls at all bus stops on the section of route (service 22) between Foley Road/Heathcote Road to New Inn Lane and then runs express between New Inn Lane (stop by Bankhouse Road) and Leek Road (Sixth Form College). Between Sixth Form College and City Centre Bus Station, service calls at College Road (Stoke-on-Trent College) only.
