Challenge Poland 2019

Students from the City of Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form and Stoke-on-Trent College have recently returned from 4 day trip to Krakow, Poland as part of a 12 week international enrichment programme; Challenge Poland.

Students at both Colleges teamed up for the programme which provided a dynamic mix of activities including personal development sessions, interactive sessions and guest speakers. All of which was to give students the opportunity to learn about Polish history and culture, as well as develop their interpersonal skills in the process.

The trip included a walking tour of Krakow taking in the Jewish quarter visiting synagogues and other places of interest. As well as a guided tour of Schindlers’ Museum and a visit to Wawel Castle. Student then visited Auschwitz and Birkenua concentration camps before ending their journey by exploring Krakow City Centre. Julia Haras described the trip as a ‘one of the best and enlightening experiences I’ve had.’

A total of 22 students from the Sixth Form College and Stoke-on-Trent College pulled together to raise money to fund the trip.

Throughout the 12 week period the students organised a plethora of fundraising activities including cake sales, sponsored bike ride, sponsored head shave, raffles & car boot sales! Four particularly enthusiastic students even took part in the Mow Cop killer mile!
