FA People’s Cup

As part of the College’s diverse sports enrichment programme, the City of Stoke-on-Trent  Sixth Form College played host to the first round of the FA People’s Cup. A national event that includes over 18 categories and 45,000 players, the People’s Cup is England’s largest small-sided football competition.

Taking place at Fenton manor Sports Complex, the College hosted the ‘local male and female’ category for College aged students. Local colleges and Sixth Forms entered the 5-aside futsal event, where the winners progress onto the Cup’s semi finals, taking place in March. A team of Sixth Form College students won the male category and the female category was won by another local college.

Over 30 Sixth Form College students took part in the event, many as players, and some as volunteer officials. Hosting this event offered a valuable experience for our students who had the opportunity to play competitive futsal and to progress to the national level of the competition, where the prize for winning is presented on the pitch at the FA Cup Final.

Well done to our students who won the male category. Lewis Pass captain of the College’s team summarised his experience as ‘a great day, full of excitement and good-natured competition. We are proud of our win and we’re looking forward to playing again in the Cup’s next round.’
