Learning Resource Centres

DESIGNED TO MEET THE NEEDS OF MODERN DAY STUDENTS – WITH QUIET STUDY AREAS AND LEARNING PODS.

Learning is placed at the heart of the Sixth Form College and as such the College has been built to reflect this. On each of the College’s three floors is a Learning Resource Centre, which offers you an environment that will suit your learning style and mood.

Quiet Study Area

Designed to meet the needs of a modern day students, our Learning Resource Centres give you reliable access to computers and printers. Located next to the teaching staff base, the LRCs are the perfect place to complete your work. The ground-floor LRC is open until late throughout the week ensuring you meet deadlines.
Do you need peace and quiet to complete your work? Then the quiet study area is ideal. With plenty of desks and access to computers there’s no better place to focus on your studies.
Learning Pods
Perhaps the most unique feature in the new building is the row of three learning pods. The pods, each with their own identity, are individual break-out spaces from the LRCs.
The Library Pod. A comfortable quiet area for students to read and revise.
The Performance Pod. A vibrant zone for performance students to warm up and a place for student break out sessions, facilitating group work and social discussions.
The IT Pod. A space which will house a variety of state of the art IT technologies for students to access – wireless enabled for students’ own portable equipment.
The College has been designed to suit all of our learners and there is additional informal seating spaces dotted around the building – find a place for you!

DIGITAL CENTRE

Our cutting-edge Digital Centre contains vibrant collaborative learning spaces, an higher education hub and state-of-the-art Computing and Science Labs. Computing facilities are excellent with specialist equipment for 3D Games Design, Computer Science and Creative subjects including Adobe Creative Suite.

Science Centre

STUDY WITH CUTTING EDGE EQUIPMENT IN OUR UNIVERSITY STANDARD SCIENCE CENTRE.

Get the best preparation for university by studying in our Science Centre. Strengthen your learning through practical experiments and university-style lecturing that will enhance your knowledge of the sciences before moving on to study in higher education or employment.

Located right on the doorstep of the Sixth Form College, the new centre is built on the University Quarter partnership and offers new and exciting ways of learning, access to state-of-the-art facilities and seamless progression through scientific education for people in the region.

OUTSTANDING SPORTS FACILITIES

Our college has excellent sports facilities within the Sports Academy at Fenton Manor and the University of Staffordshire, including sports halls, a swimming pool, and access to 3G and grass pitches. Whether you’re training, competing, or simply staying active, these facilities provide the perfect environment to develop your skills and enjoy sport to the fullest.

Only a short walk from the main Leek Road site, Fenton Manor Sports Complex boasts some of the best facilities in the city, including

The Food Hall

A large variety of delicious hot food is available throughout the day in our newly refurbished Refectory. Here you’ll find a wide range of dishes including Chilli, Pizzas, Full English Breakfast, Jacket Potatoes, Stir Fry and much more. Regular meal deals and ‘theme days’ offer many international dishes for you to sample. In the Summer, (or at any time you’re feeling brave) you’ll also be able to make use of our outdoor eating area.
