BEGIN – IS THIS COURSE RIGHT FOR ME?
BTEC Applied Psychology is ideal for students who are fascinated by people: how we think, behave, learn, and interact with the world around us. If you’ve ever wondered why people conform, how memory works, or what influences mental health, this course invites you to explore those questions and apply them to real-world situations such as aggression, consumer behaviour and identity.
To thrive on this course, you’ll need to be comfortable with essay writing and analysing information, as well as willing to develop your scientific and data skills through experiments and research. Curiosity, critical thinking, and an open-minded approach are key. If you enjoy questioning ideas, exploring different perspectives, and understanding what drives human behaviour, then this is the course for you.
BELONG – WHY STUDY THIS WITH US?
At the Sixth Form College, you’ll learn with experienced and enthusiastic Psychology specialists who bring the subject to life through discussion, experimentation and real-world examples. Lessons are interactive and varied, with opportunities to debate ideas, run mini-investigations, and explore psychological research in depth. You’ll be supported in developing strong essay-writing, critical thinking and exam skills, helping you feel confident and well-prepared for assessments and future study.
You’ll also benefit from a range of enrichment opportunities, including visits from university lecturers and practising psychologists, mental health professionals, and researchers. Many of our students take part in university taster days and subject workshops, helping you make informed decisions about your pathway into higher education or careers related to psychology.
