BEGIN – IS THIS COURSE RIGHT FOR ME?
If you’re curious about the world around you and how society works, Law could be the right course for you! Following the news, watching documentaries, or keeping up with real-life court cases can help you understand how laws affect people’s lives. An interest in justice, fairness, and how society deals with crime and disputes will make your studies more engaging and relevant.
To succeed in Law, you’ll need strong skills in critical thinking, research, and communication. You’ll learn how to analyse information, evaluate arguments, and construct well-reasoned conclusions using case law and legal authorities. Being able to understand complex information and present clear, logical arguments will be key to your success.
BELONG – WHY STUDY THIS WITH US?
At Sixth Form college, you’ll learn from experienced and passionate Law teachers who will guide you through challenging concepts and support you in building your skills. Beyond the classroom, there are lots of opportunities to bring your learning to life.
You’ll hear from guest speakers such as lawyers, judges, and barristers, giving you real insight into legal careers. You’ll also visit local courts to watch cases unfold and may take part in trips to London’s Old Bailey and the Supreme Court, seeing the legal system in action. These experiences help you connect what you learn in lessons to the real world.
BEYOND – WHERE CAN THIS COURSE TAKE ME?
A Level Law is the perfect foundation if you want to pursue a career as a solicitor, barrister, or paralegal, and it’s a great stepping stone to university Law degrees or legal apprenticeships. But the skills you gain – like analysis, reasoning, and communication – are also highly valued in many other fields. Students often progress into careers in criminal justice, policing, politics, journalism, HR, teaching, and business.
You’ll also have the chance to boost your learning through our Aspire+ activities. A highlight is the Bar Mock Trial, where you’ll work as part of a legal team, taking on roles such as barristers, witnesses, and jurors in a real courtroom setting. Last year, our team reached the National Final at the Old Bailey in London. We also run the “Solve the Crime” Club, where you investigate cases with other students – building teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills while getting a taste of legal and justice-related careers.
