Is this course right for me?

A GCSE in Biology (or Combined Science) provides a useful foundation, as A Level Biology builds directly on those concepts. You should enjoy understanding how living systems work and be prepared to make connections between different biological processes. Strong study habits, independent learning, and good time management will help you succeed. Reviewing GCSE material, practicing past papers, and being confident to ask questions are excellent ways to bridge the gap to A Level study.

Why study this with us?

A Level Biology here is a practical, engaging course that develops both your scientific knowledge and your confidence. You’ll explore topics ranging from the inner workings of the human body to ecosystems and biodiversity, supported by fieldwork and visits such as Chester Zoo and the Ainsdale sand dunes. Alongside building a strong scientific vocabulary, you’ll also strengthen your mathematical and analytical skills—so pairing Biology with A Level Maths or Statistics is highly recommended.

Beyond.

Where can this course take me?

Studying Biology opens doors to a wide range of degrees and careers. Many students progress to university to study Biology or more specialist fields such as Genetics, Zoology, Marine Biology, or Environmental Science. Others go directly into training and employment with organisations like the NHS. Career paths include conservation, forensic science, toxicology, consultancy, pharmaceuticals, and many more. The skills you develop—critical thinking, analysis, and problem-solving—are highly valued across both scientific and non-scientific professions.
