Is this course right for me?

If you enjoy drawing, designing, making, or building – and you’re excited by the idea of turning creative ideas into real-world solutions – then 3D Design could be the perfect course for you! It’s especially suited to students who have studied a creative subject such as Art, Product Design, or 3D Design at GCSE, but above all we’re looking for enthusiastic, independent thinkers with a good eye for design and detail.

This course is ideal if you’re curious about architecture, interiors, furniture, or product design, and if you enjoy experimenting with materials, problem-solving, and exploring new ways of working. With the right mix of creativity and motivation, you’ll thrive in a supportive environment where your ideas can take shape.

Why study this with us?

Studying 3D Design at Sixth Form College means learning in a purpose-built design studio and a specialist workshop, equipped with industry-standard tools and technology including laser cutters, 3D printers, and CAD software. You’ll be guided by expert staff in a studio-style environment that mirrors real-world design practice, encouraging you to experiment, think independently, and develop professional-level skills.

Beyond the classroom, you’ll take part in trips, university visits, design challenges, and workshops with visiting artists, designers, and alumni who share their experiences. You’ll also be part of a vibrant creative department, collaborating across subjects, showcasing your work, and joining stretch and challenge activities through our ASPIRE+ programme. This supportive, creative community will help you grow in confidence while pushing your ideas to the next level.
