BEGIN – IS THIS COURSE RIGHT FOR ME?

This course is ideal for students who love video games and want to understand how they are made. You don’t need prior experience, just creativity, curiosity, and a willingness to learn. An interest in drawing, storytelling, problem-solving, or experimenting with technology is helpful, but the most important factor is a genuine passion for exploring the world of game design and development.

BELONG – WHY STUDY THIS WITH US?

On the Digital Games Production (BTEC Extended Certificate), you’ll design and build 2D and 3D games using industry-standard software such as Unreal Engine 5.6 and GameMaker Studio. You’ll be supported by expert tutors and have opportunities to take part in enrichment activities like game jams, workshops, and trips to gaming events or studios. Strong employer links and the ASPIRE+ programme provide additional career support, networking, and pathways to help you plan your future in the games industry.

BEYOND – WHERE CAN THIS COURSE TAKE ME?

Many progress to university courses such as Games Design, Game Development, Animation, or Digital Media at institutions including Staffordshire University, University of Hertfordshire, and Birmingham City University. Others move straight into apprenticeships or junior roles in game production, software development, or digital media.

Through ASPIRE+, you’ll also gain access to specialist pathways, networking events, and support for creative careers. Whether you want to study further, begin work in the industry, or even launch your own projects, this course gives you the foundation to succeed in the fast-moving world of games.
